How to set salaries

How to set salaries

Background & Purpose

People set their own salaries, calibrated by the advice process from their peers. Once a year, people propose what salary raise they believe to be appropriate for themselves, and the justifications for their proposal. This input is reviewed by a number of peers (e.g. in an elected salary advice group) who give individual advice on that proposal, based on a calibration across colleagues. Individuals can then choose to follow the advice they have received or not, and their choice is made public.

Background & Purpose

Remember who said this? “Problems cannot be solved by the same level of thinking that created them.” You are right, Albert Einstein.
Many times when we see things in one way (our natural understanding of a problem or situation) it is hard to see it in another way, and it requires from us a many times difficult but necessary paradigm shift.

If you browse online you will find many resources and tools to help you and your team shift the lens on a situation.

Ping Pong Q&A Game

Ping Pong Q&A Game

Background & Purpose

#The “ping pong Q&A” game will inevitably result in absurd, silly and often very meaningful input:

One person asks a question which needs to be answered without pause and minimal hesitation in exactly five words by all other participants. The game works especially well in pairs.

This restriction of five words and no thinking time causes some very curious effects including answers that are surprisingly deep and provocative.
